SSC Hub activities

Overview

Since our launch in April 2024, the SSC Hub has conducted activites that include strategy development, PhD projects, mobility grants, thematic seminars and networking opportunities. Our activities aim to:

  • Build RMIT Vietnam capability through research and training
  • Organising forums, thematic seminars and networking activities to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange
  • Engage with Vietnam and Asia Pacific stakeholders
  • Support collaborative Australia-Vietnam research engagement and mobility, and connect with Europe

Our activities

RMIT Vietnam has PhD scholarships available to eligible applicants, with supervision across RMIT Vietnam and RMIT Australia. RMIT Vietnam Smart and Sustainable Cities Hub can support the coordination of recruitment and enrolment, including engagement of external industry, government and civil society partners to identify PhD projects that will deliver impact for Vietnam.

Visit the PhD programs page for more details of application guideline and process.

The SSC Hub connects Australia and Vietnam through collaborative research, engagement, and mobility initiatives while building ties with Europe. As part of the 2024–2025 program, we provide funding for mobility and research seed projects.

In 2024, we supported research projects for RMIT staff from Melbourne and Vietnam, enabling collaboration with government agencies, local businesses, and academic organizations.

If you are interested in these funding opportunities, please contact us at citieshub@rmit.edu.vn for 2025 application requirements and guidelines.

Stay tuned for upcoming opportunities for external engagements.

Funded projects

In 2024–2025, the SSC Hub will organise one SSC forum per year. Additionally, the SSC Hub will actively participate in conferences, present research and support other teams in showcasing their outcomes at various workshops and forums.

In 2024, the SSC Hub, in partnership with The Business School, the Digital Transformation Centre of Ho Chi Minh City and the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Development Studies, co-hosted the Smart and Sustainable Cities Forum 2024 under the theme “Smart Citizens and Digital Society – Leading Vietnam’s Sustainable Future.”

In future, we aim to organise more thematic seminars, conferences and networking opportunities to build RMIT Vietnam capability through a comprehensive approach that integrates research, training, and engaging activities. These events will focus on fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among experts, practitioners, and academics.

By hosting thematic conferences and networking activities, SSC Hub will create a platform for in-depth discussions on critical topics, enabling participants to stay abreast of the latest developments and innovations.
