The RMIT Vietnam Smart and Sustainable Cities Hub (Cities Hub) leverages RMIT’s expertise to impact Vietnam and the Asia-Pacific through collaborative research, training, and engagement.
Over 2024-2025, the RMIT Vietnam Smart and Sustainable Cities Hub (Cities Hub) will deploy RMIT’s smart and sustainable cities capability on collaborative research, training and engagement to achieve impact for Vietnam and the Asia-Pacific, both within RMIT and with external stakeholders, across government, private firms, international agencies and partner universities in the region.
This project leverages RMIT’s extensive expertise in smart and sustainable cities research and training to benefit Vietnam and other Asia-Pacific nations where RMIT is active. Specifically focused on Vietnam, the initiative aims to assist both local and central government in realising their objectives of dual transformation encompassing digital and green advancements. The Smart and Sustainable Cities Hub is based at the RMIT Vietnam campus in Saigon South, linking with RMIT researchers in Melbourne, Hanoi and Barcelona.
Focusing on strategy, leadership, governance, and management to enhance productive urban and digital technologies, infrastructure, transport and logistics, and economies
Strategic precinct, metropolitan and national planning and policy for smart and sustainable housing, land-use, transport, infrastructure and tourism at multiple scales
Promoting innovative architectural, placemaking and city design and heritage preservation
Responding to climate risks and natural hazards while regenerating biodiverse ecosystems and shaping consumption and waste practices for net-zero transition
We collaborate with governments, private firms, international agencies, and partner universities to make a regional impact and drive innovation.
