Anh Tran is a professor at the O'Neill School, specialising in governance issues in developing countries. His current research focuses on performance management and leadership in public organisations. His articles have been published in leading academic journals, including the American Political Science Review, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Law and Economics, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Politics, and American Economic Journal: Applied Policy.

Professor Tran currently serves as an economic advisor to the Prime Minister of Vietnam. He is also the chair of Vietnam Initiatives at IU, a global network of experts on development policies for Vietnam. Additionally, he leads two major USAID projects in Vietnam, aimed at training senior policymakers and innovating the higher education system.

Professor Tran frequently works as a consultant on reform initiatives for national governments, the United Nations, and the World Bank. He has lived and worked in Russia, France, and Australia and has participated in the UNDP Academic Fellowship, the Asia Foundation's Emerging Leaders Program, and the Vietnamese Prime Minister's Research Council. He is also the co-founder of the International Society of Vietnamese Economists.
