About

Michal Teague is Interim Associate Program Manager in Design Studies who has worked as a transnational practitioner and educator in art, design and communication in the Middle East and Vietnam. A graduate of the Master of Art in Public Space with Distinction (MAPS) from RMIT University Melbourne she has exhibited in Australia, Turkey, the UAE and Vietnam and curated projects, workshops and events for RMIT University, CreativeMornings Hanoi, New York University Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, Sharjah Biennale, Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF), HCT Colleges, Camp Creative UAE, jamjar Dubai, AURA Project - Arts Victoria Melbourne, Sile City Council - Turkey, WRAN (Western Region Arts Network) and the Big West Festival, Melbourne.

Previously she ran the graphic design agency Teague Moore Design for over 13 years in Sydney, Australia. Teague’s areas of creative research practice are social design, creative and cultural ecosystems, urban spaces, digital archives, curation, storytelling and transnational design pedagogy. Research findings from the recently completed team project ‘Futureproofing Museums: The Digitization of Art and Culture in Vietnam’ led by Dr Emma Duester will be published as a book 'Digital Museums in the Global South: A Case Study on Vietnam' with Routledge in 2024.


Industry experience:
Creative Industry Professional:
- 1992 - 2005 - Director, Teague Moore Design, Sydney Australia - Art Director, Copywriter and Director of a design firm. Overseeing designers, print management, client liaison, art direction of design and photographic shoots, planning marketing/advertising campaigns, writing copy and proofreading for government, corporate, retail and creative industry clients.

Public Art:
- 2010 - artist team from RMIT University, Melbourne and the Sile City Council in Turkey to devise and install public artwork for a playground.
- 2009 - Curator and Lead Artist for Parking, a 10 day public art event, part of the Big West Festival, Melbourne.
- 2009 - 2010 Member of the Brimbank Public Art and Acquisitions Committee (PAAC) Served as the artist representative on the committee involved in developing EOI guidelines and assessing and selecting artist project submissions for the Brimbank Council Public Art Program.

Artist Educator:
- 2013 - 2016 - Devised and presented Camp Creative and Camp Cinema programs with Labor of Love.
- 2011 - 2013 Sharjah Art Biennial, Abu Dhabi Music & Art Foundation, Jamjar - Art Dubai and Abu Dhabi Art

- 2016 - Winner of Art Dubai ArtBus commission for 'Garden'
- 2013 - 'Ellipse' commission for 'The City is Your Canvas' on The Walk, Jumeirah Beach Residences, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority
- 2012 - 'Drift' commission for the ‘Outdoor Art Project' by Dubai Culture and Arts Authority
