Abel D. Alonso earned his Ph.D. degree at Lincoln University, New Zealand, an MBA, and a Bachelor’s degree at Western Michigan University. He lived and worked in 10 different nations, and studied in five. Abel has conducted research on family, micro, small, and medium enterprises in Australia, Argentina, Chile, Italy, New Zealand, Peru, Spain, United Kingdom, United States, and Uruguay. He has published over 190 peer-reviewed academic journals, and taught a range of Business-related disciplines, including international business and entrepreneurship, at universities in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and United States.

Industry experience
Abel grew up in a family firm involved in all aspects of the flower-production and retail supply chain, including exports, and later worked nearly 12 years in predominantly small and medium hotels in Switzerland, and in real estate management in Spain.
