Celebrating 25 years in Vietnam

Celebrating 25 years of impact in Vietnam

Founded in the city of Melbourne, Australia in 1887, RMIT University emerged from a passionate commitment to uplifting communities and fostering positive change. This profound purpose continues to resonate deeply within our identity, inspiring us across all our campuses around the globe.

In 2000, this vision blossomed into reality with the establishment of RMIT Vietnam. Just a year later, we welcomed our first cohort of students, igniting a transformative educational journey that would empower thousands across Vietnam and the region.

From the very beginning, we were driven by a relentless determination to shape futures, forging a legacy of hope opportunity and impact. Today, 25 years later, we proudly stand with over 12,000 students, 1,300 dedicated staff, and more than 22,500 alumni. Together, we are making a profound and lasting impact on Vietnam's educational landscape, illuminating paths to success and inspiring generations to come.

The story behind the logo

The “25 years together in Vietnam” concept symbolises RMIT’s growth alongside Vietnam. For 25 years, we have fostered academic excellence, transformed generations through education and made a lasting impact on the community.

The commemorative logo, designed by Tran Lam Nam Bao, a second-year Design Studies student, reflects RMIT’s commitment to innovation and excellence. The tagline, inspired by fellow student Dang Kha Han, adds depth to this milestone design. Bao and Han's work embodies the essence of our 25-year journey in Vietnam, shaped by our students, staff, alumni and the local community.

Meet the designer

Bao’s journey at RMIT has been a transformative one, where his passion for design and creativity has flourished. As a recipient of the 2022 Creative Scholarship, Bao has developed his skills, expanded his artistic perspective and gained exposure to real-world design challenges.

His passion for branding, inspired by his mother’s stories about RMIT’s early days in Vietnam, fueled his desire to create a meaningful symbol for this major milestone. Bao credits RMIT’s hands-on learning approach, which taught him how to think creatively while solving real-world design problems. Feedback from faculty and peers played a key role in refining his design, ensuring it resonated with both local and global audiences.

For Bao, winning the contest is not just a personal achievement. It is a celebration of the opportunity RMIT has given him to contribute to this milestone. He looks forward to seeing his design come to life in a sculpture, marking the 25-year journey of RMIT Vietnam.
