ENACTUS’s Share to Care: Impact reaching beyond RMIT

129 million Vietnamese Dong raised over the past five seasons – that’s the incredible impact of the Share to Care project by RMIT ENACTUS Club. Through these efforts, Share to Care has helped improve lives and create lasting, positive change in the community.

About Share to Care

The name ‘Share to Care’ reflects the core value of sharing—an essential force that spreads love and fosters connections among people. In the last two years, the project has been determined on supporting children with disadvantaged backgrounds, bringing meaningful change and creating better lives for them in shelters, social welfare centres, and through various charitable organisations. Share to Care is not just about giving; it’s about creating sustainable social impacts that truly help those in need.

In 2024, Share to Care chose to spotlight water puppet theatre, an iconic yet often overlooked Vietnamese art form, and the folktale hero Thanh Giong, a young boy whose transformation into a hero was made possible by the collective love and support of his village. At its core, the project embodies the spirit of sharing, just as the villagers united to support Thanh Giong with unconditional love and care. Through "Ride the Waves", RMIT ENACTUS illustrates how small contributions from many can transform the lives of children facing adversity, giving them the chance to rise above and chase their dreams.

Bringing this year's Share to Care theme to life

The Share to Care team started preparing well in advance, driven by a desire to make each piece of merchandise was designed to carry the unique imprint of the project, symbolising its mission and values. Countless hours were spent researching, designing, and crafting these items, with the goal of capturing the interest and support of the RMIT community.

Each department at ENACTUS took on a vital role in shaping the project’s success.

In an effort to broaden the project’s reach, Share to Care extended its connections beyond campus, collaborating with external organisations like the Open Heart Club from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Together, they hosted workshops to share the cultural beauty of water puppetry and Thanh Giong. The workshops went beyond cultural activities, serving as heartfelt opportunities to spread the project's message and inspire contributions to its cause. They fostered connection, understanding, and a collective spirit of giving. Additionally, Share to Care ensured that RMIT students' handwritten messages reached the children at Lộc Thịnh School, offering them spiritual encouragement and support.

Despite thorough preparation, the project still encountered a few obstacles, such as fundraising, finding suitable venues, and time constraints. However, these challenges allowed the team to enhance their organisation, management, and communication skills, ultimately reinforcing the core value of "sharing is caring."

When asked about the standout moment of the project, ENACTUS shared that it was the overwhelming support from the RMIT Vietnam community, who played a vital role in fundraising, attending workshops and spreading the Share to Care message on social media. This created a strong sense of unity within the RMIT community, which helped bring the project closer to its goal.

"I truly feel happy and fulfilled to have been part of Share to Care, contributing to the process of spreading love and support. Knowing that even my small efforts helped raise funds for children in need warms my heart. What I value most is the opportunity to collaborate with teammates from different departments, setting up booths, and directly participating in fundraising to support these children." - shared Song Toàn, a senior ENACTUS member.

The journey of visiting, holding a meet-up event, and giving presents to the children was a profoundly moving moment—one that marked the culmination of a season of Share to Care’s dedicated efforts. “Seeing them enjoy the activities, sing, dance, and interact with our team was unforgettable. Every smile from the children was a powerful reminder that keeps us motivated to put in even more effort for future projects. We also received heartfelt thanks from the teachers for our contributions, and that made us proud of the efforts from the entire Share to Care team.”  - Phú Sơn, an ENACTUS member, proudly said.

Loc Thinh Primary School - Tà Thiết campus is home to over 150 students in need of support.

While this chapter closes, the mission of Share to Care will always be carried forward. The wonderful moments Share to Care team have just experienced will be cherished forever, serving as motivation for the project to continue growing and spreading love to even more challenging circumstances.
