Health insurance

Appropriate level insurance coverage is essential for your time in Vietnam.

International Health Insurance is compulsory for all international students. Suitable medical insurance will be arranged by RMIT Vietnam on your behalf.  

The insurance costs $251 USD (5,700,000 VND) and is included in tuition fee invoices each semester. 

Semesters are covered as follows:

  • Semester 1: 03 Feb 2025 – 28 June 2025 
  • Semester 2: 02 June 2025 – 25 October 2025  
  • Semester 3: 29 Sep 2025 – 29 Feb 2026 

Notice

The insurance arrangement by RMIT University Vietnam only applies to students enrolling in the respective semester.

  • RMIT University Vietnam’s insurance arrangement will not cover students who take Leave of Absence (LOA).
  • If you are on LOA and require assistance with arranging medical insurance, please submit an inquiry on Student Connect Online Portal for support from RMIT University Vietnam.

Health insurance waiver

International students who meet the following requirements may organise their own insurance and apply for a waiver:  

  • International students who hold a Vietnam work permit, or residency permit 
  • International students who have a spouse who holds a Vietnam work permit, or residency permit.  

If you are in this group, you are eligible to apply for an insurance waiver. Please apply for an insurance waiver via our student self-service site called myRMIT.   

  1. Log on to myRMIT and click the Submit Request tile.   
  2. Click on Fill out a new form, then select the International Insurance Waiver form.  
  3. Complete the form and attach all the documents required.  

Required Documents:  

  • Proof of valid insurance card/ policy which covers the desirably waived semester.  
  • Confirmation letter from the insurance company to confirm the insurance coverage in Vietnam and Nationwide (must be in English).   
  • When your waiver is approved, RMIT University Vietnam will no longer arrange your health insurance from the applied semester onward until notified otherwise.

Health Insurance Waiver Deadline

The insurance waiver application must be submitted before the commencement date of the semester.  

  • Semester 1: Friday, 28 March 2025  
  • Semester 2: Friday, 25 July 2025  
  • Semester 3: Friday, 21 November 2025  

*** Note: Late submission of insurance waiver requests will not be processed.

Henner's medical provider network in Vietnam

Please check the Henner's medical provider network in Vietnam before clinical visitation. 

Claim procedure

a. Claim documents

Students can submit all e-claim documents via myHenner App. In order to obtain reimbursement as quickly as possible, please ensure you provide with all of the decuments listed below:

  • Henner- GMC claim form,
  • Medical Prescriptions,
  • Itemised paid invoices: clearly indicating the full name of the patient, the date of treatment, the exact type of medical treatment received, the name of each medication dispense and its individual breakdown,
  • Insurance stickers from drug packages, if available,
  • Original statement of any other healthcare system to which you may have subscribed, if applicable,
  • Agreement from the HENNER Medical Beard for treatments or required Prior Agreement.

b. Bank details for claim reimbursement:

  • Name of the bank
  • Full branch address
  • Account holder name and contact detail
  • Full account number
  • Branch code
  • Swift code (or BIC code)
  • IBAN code (for bank account located in Europe only)
  • Currency of the account.
