myDesktop is an online program that allows you to access eligible software and applications on your device from anywhere.
You can access myDesktop from any device (laptop, desktop, mobile, tablet) that has an internet connection. No matter what device you are using, your apps and files are always within easy reach – on campus or off.
RMIT Vietnam utilises myDesktop to enable staff and students with the independence they require from physical labs to learn and teach their coursework and to provide all students with remote access.
myDesktop is a cloud-based platform accessed through an Internet browser to login to a virtual environment where users can access specific applications that were previously only accessed on campus, in a lab/classroom setting.
There are two ways to launch apps/desktops within myDesktop – referred to as the Light version and the Full version.
The Light version is web browser based, where the application/software opens in a new browser tab.
The Full version is accessed through "Citrix Workspace". This version opens in its own window. On campus you can access your computer drives directly. However, if using myDesktop outside of campus, please ensure to save your files on an external storage device e.g. a USB thumbdrive or hard drive.
Important: Make sure to save your work onto OneDrive, a USB, or your local drive before you exit a myDesktop session, as the files will not automatically save onto a shared drive.
