Eriko Yamato has experience in teaching Japanese as foreign language, conducting qualitative research, and organizing cultural exchange activities. Her research interest includes cultural studies, media studies, and critical pedagogy. Her major publications relate to media consumption and fans of Japanese popular culture in Malaysian context.
