Join RMIT Vietnam to create impact through scholarships

RMIT Vietnam is calling on ambitious and gifted young individuals to join the University and make a difference through its Scholarship program in 2024 with a total value of nearly 51 billion VND.

Eighty-five out of 106 scholarships will be granted to prospective pre-university, undergraduate and postgraduate students to study at RMIT University in Vietnam.

These scholarships are available to all young people who aspire to make positive change for themselves and their community.

The other 21 scholarships will be awarded to students who are currently studying at RMIT Vietnam.

The scholarship application deadline is 5 July 2024, except for the categories of Foundation Studies Scholarship, International Excellence Scholarship, Postgraduate Scholarship and Academic Achievement Scholarship for current students. Further details will be available on RMIT Vietnam’s Information Day, 14 January 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Scholarship winners are the University’s true partners in advancing the development of the community it serves, said RMIT Vietnam Pro Vice-Chancellor and General Director Professor Claire Macken.

“As a pioneer in Vietnam’s higher education sector, our Scholarship program has been instrumental in producing high-quality employees and future leaders of the country,” Professor Macken said.

“RMIT alumni community in Vietnam with a total of 20,000 members has its presence in many key industries, including media and communications, IT, telecoms, consulting services, financial and insurance services, consumer goods, retail and food services, tourism, leisure and hospitality, and transportation, infrastructure, and logistics, and many of them have held top management positions.

“During 24 years of operation, we have awarded scholarships to over 1,700 outstanding students, worth more than 513 billion VND.”

Vice-Chancellor’s Scholars, one of the University’s most prestigious scholarship categories, will be awarded to seven high school students who have achieved exemplary academic grades and demonstrated outstanding community engagement and leadership potential. Candidates must submit an introduction video, personal statement, recommendation letters, and a digital portfolio highlighting their extracurricular activities and achievements. The selection process involves three rounds, including screening, shortlisting, and an interview in English. The scholarship covers 100% of the undergraduate program tuition fee.

Another full tuition fee scholarship category is the Opportunity Scholarship for students with disability and/or financial disadvantage to study at RMIT Vietnam. Some of the six life-changing scholarships are in partnership with the University’s community partners, including KOTO, Vietnam Blind Association and Sao Mai Center for the Blind.

These Opportunity Scholarships strongly reflect RMIT’s commitment to creating impacts on the community by giving opportunities to Vietnamese students with disabilities and/or financial disadvantages who demonstrate positive personal qualities and a strong desire to pursue higher education. To date, the University has granted 34 of these fully funded scholarships, with a total value of more than 56.6 billion VND.

“Beyond providing financial support, the Opportunity Scholarship has helped instil belief and motivation in young generation across Vietnam,” Professor Macken emphasised.

Other scholarships, which cover from 25% to 50% of the tuition fee, are allocated across 17 categories, including discipline specific, academic achievement, international, and postgraduate.
