RMIT Vietnam commits to impactful growth in Vietnam and the region

Throughout June 2022, RMIT University in Vietnam is convening high-level roundtables to discuss the future of work and education in the region and how together with its partners the University can respond to meet the challenges of Industry 4.0, digital economy, sustainable development, and creative industries.

Participants at the roundtable on 9 June 2022 in Hanoi. The RMIT roundtables on 7 and 9 June 2022 invited senior representatives from the Vietnamese government, the Australian Embassy in Vietnam and the business community to discuss the digital economy and Industry 4.0.

As the first international university in Vietnam, fully invested by RMIT University in Melbourne since 2000, RMIT Vietnam is committed to working with its partners to support the national priorities of Vietnam’s Government and demands of industry to deliver impact for Vietnam and the region.  

For more than 20 years, RMIT Vietnam has provided the Vietnamese economy with thousands of high-quality graduates. To date, RMIT is Australia's largest service investment in Vietnam and remains the largest foreign education investor in Vietnam.  

RMIT Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Business and Law) and Vice President Professor Julie Cogin said that as an established player in Vietnam’s education sector with a critical role in workforce transformation and meeting local skills needs, RMIT is actively seeking to understand potential opportunities to maximise impact and outcomes in the country for years to come.  

Professor Cogin said that “our growth will be partnership driven and have focus on building relationships in education, research and community engagement so that together we can make a difference”.  

“Through our two decades of significant presence in Vietnam, RMIT has been a partner of choice for industry and government to achieve positive impact in the Southeast Asian region.”

The first two roundtables on 7 and 9 June 2022 invited senior representatives from the Vietnamese government, the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, and RMIT’s network of industry partners to discuss the topics of digital economy and Industry 4.0.

RMIT executive leaders presented the future trends in education and the future of work in the aforementioned areas to stimulate the discussion. Constructive feedback and insights were generated from the event’s enriching conversation.

Professor Cogin said: “RMIT recognises that Industry 4.0 and the digital economy are becoming increasingly important both in Vietnam and globally.”  

“It is more important than ever to ensure that the leaders of the future are well-prepared and here at RMIT, we aim to equip our students and communities for just that.”
