RMIT welcomes Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee delegation

On 16 May 2024 in Melbourne, Australia, RMIT University hosted Mr Phan Van Mai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and his delegation on RMIT’s campus.

The delegation was welcomed by RMIT Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Alec Cameron, Deputy Vice-Chancellor International and Engagement and Vice-President Ms Saskia Loer Hansen, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor STEM College and Vice-President Professor Ian Burnett.

The meeting was productive with RMIT’s Saigon South campus receiving approval from the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee for future building development. This is an important first step for RMIT Vietnam as we can begin planning for new infrastructure at our largest campus.

Professor Alec Cameron said “RMIT Vietnam continues to be an important part of our university and we remain committed to continuing to Vietnam’s economic development and delivering a world class student experience.”

The meeting between Chairman Mai and RMIT leaders also provided an opportunity to further discuss the deep connections between RMIT both in Australia and Vietnam.

With RMIT Vietnam proudly home to over 12,000 active students, 22,500 alumni and 1,300 staff, our ongoing relationship with Vietnam is a special one, particularly as we look to celebrating 25 years of RMIT Vietnam next year.
