RMIT workshops to foster higher education in the digital age

RMIT has launched a series of deep-dive workshops focused on online learning for Vietnamese universities lecturers and administrators.

These workshops continue the work that RMIT initiated in 2020, in which the University collaborated with Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training, Australian and Vietnamese higher education experts to organise roundtables and workshops on digitally enhanced learning.

Since then, RMIT has established and led a Community of Practice (COP) with participation from a range of universities in Vietnam, aiming to discuss and share experiences in teaching and learning in the digital arena.

This contribution has amplified the impact of RMIT on the virtual space and qualified its expertise to lead the Vietnamese education sector in online education.

An Online College Students 2022 report showed that 87% of undergraduate and graduate online students agreed or strongly agreed that online education was worth the cost.

In 2023, RMIT commits to continue the Community of Practice by offering a series of deep-dive workshops focused on online learning in the digital age for the Vietnamese higher education sector to continue uplift its capacity in this area.

RMIT is devoted to providing Vietnam with the greatest information, skillsets, and technology applied in Australia.

The workshops focus on Australian leading educational standards, strengthening the Vietnam-Australia academic network, and uplifting the capacity of higher education sector in Vietnam.

Pro-Vice Chancellor & General Director of RMIT Vietnam Professor Claire Macken said: “We are pleased to offer our international leadership and cutting-edge resources in digital learning education to Vietnam's leading educational institutions in an effort to improve the quality of general and higher education in Vietnam. By working together, we can scale great heights for the future and transform the digital education opportunity into a milestone for Vietnam.

“At RMIT, it is more important than ever to ensure that the leaders of the future are well-prepared and equipped with the skills to succeed in the digital workplace of the future while also contributing to the development of an ethical, digital economy,” Professor Macken added.

RMIT Vietnam Interim Dean of Students Associate Professor Seng Kiat Kok shared: “As part of our university strategy, we want to be a civic institution that needs to contribute to society and the region. From RMIT Vietnam perspective, what we are doing for Vietnam and the region as a whole and higher education in particular is important. Our role in the community is to try to not only uplift the diverse ways of learning and teaching, uplift the next generation of academics, but also contribute to our student body and the community.

“RMIT’s commitment to society and to Vietnam is critical that we help promote and develop opportunities for the future and it might be simple things like innovative technologies. All of these are part of the landscape and the fabric of what we have to offer for Vietnam as a community, so this Community of Practice is about that term – community.”

Associate Professor Seng Kiat Kok affirmed: “In such event like this, it is not just RMIT telling what we know best. It is actually RMIT sharing and learning and then looking at where our country commitment brings us and what we can do for both Vietnam and the region.”
