Fly towards careers in aviation operations and management

Built on RMIT’s 80-year history in aerospace and aviation education, and successfully delivered in Melbourne, Hong Kong, and Singapore, RMIT’s new Bachelor of Applied Science (Aviation) brings the opportunity to get ready for working across management, operational, and planning roles in the dynamic and vibrant aviation industry closer to students in Vietnam.

Dean of RMIT School of Science, Engineering & Technology Professor Brett Kirk said that in this first international-standard aviation bachelor's degree in Vietnam, students gain an in-depth understanding of the aviation industry and a range of analytical skills, giving them a comprehensive appreciation of the operating environment.

“They develop the breadth and depth of thinking, and ability to solve problems relevant to the aviation industry,” Professor Kirk said.

With a focus on Aviation Operations and Management, the program highlights operational and management aspects of airlines and airports, and ground handling and safety.

“Students learn through an innovative combination of traditional and digital techniques in blended learning environments for maximum engagement, including online lectures with aviation experts in Australia, interactive face-to-face tutorials, individual projects and assignments and group work, frequent feedback and discussion with lecturers and tutors, and extensive industry connections,” Professor Kirk noted.

“In Vietnam, RMIT continues to form strategic partnerships with a range of major aviation industry bodies and airlines, including Vietnam Airlines, ACV, Vietjet Air, Sovico Group, Vingroup, Qantas, and Bamboo Airways.”

Upon graduation, students will be well prepared for employment in a range of operational, management and planning roles in the aviation industry, not just in Vietnam but also across the globe.

These include roles in areas such as airport planning and management, aviation safety management, airline operations planning and management, airline maintenance management and supervision, airline strategies, finance, and traffic data, human factors concepts and applications, airport landside operations, and airport airside operations.

news-2-acquire-international-degrees-in-aviation-and-psychology-locally RMIT Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) creates pathways for careers in a wide range of areas, such as education counsellor, NGO social worker, educator, researcher, human resources specialist in recruitment and training, market research specialist, and marketing specialist in customer behaviour and advertising.

Pathway to become a certified international psychologist

According to the Center for Forecasting Human Resources and Labor Market Information under the Department of Labor and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh city, 15% of Vietnam's population experience mental health issues, while there is a serious shortage of well-trained psychologists with a recruitment need of more than 1000 people per year.

Launching in Vietnam in 2021, Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) is based upon the same program at RMIT University in Australia which is accredited by an independent quality and standards organisation that develops and reviews the standards for accreditation of psychology programs of study - Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC).

Professor Kirk said the degree provides a basis for pursuing further study to gain full qualifications if students want to become a practising psychologist.

“Graduates who wish to become a certified psychologist can continue with further study at RMIT University in Australia through the one-year Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) (Honours) and two-year Master of Clinical Psychology,” Professor Kirk explained.

Through studying the science of the mind and human behaviour, students gain theoretical and practical foundations to pursue a career in the field of psychology, and examine in depth social psychology, biological psychology, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, research methods in psychology, and psychopathy.

These lead to careers in a wide range of areas, such as education counsellor, NGO social worker, educator, researcher, human resources specialist in recruitment and training, market research specialist, and marketing specialist in customer behaviour and advertising.

The two programs both require a minimum GPA 7.0/10.0 for Grade 12 and IELTS (Academic) 6.5+ (no band below 6.0) or equivalent.
