RMIT to partner with L’Oreal for Vietnam-first Brandstorm competition

After signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), RMIT Vietnam students (together with five other local universities) will be offered an opportunity to compete in the 2020 Brandstorm competition for the first time in Vietnam.

RMIT Vietnam’s Head of Department of Management from the School of Business & Management Associate Professor Robert McClelland said that Vietnam will be the 65th country to join the competition, which has attracted more than 40,000 students over the last 28 years. The winning team will have a chance to go to Paris for the final round in early June 2020.

“Students from six universities will form a team of three to solve a mission of building a plastic-less future in the beauty industry by coming up with an innovative idea and sharpening it throughout the selection process. They’ll then get a chance to become the champion of the country,” Associate Professor McClelland said.

Apart from creating opportunities for students through the competition, the MoU agreement will further cooperation in a number of areas, including Work Integrated Learning (WIL) courses, company tours, internships, management trainee programs, research, guest talks, workshops or seminars.

This agreement comes after a two-year relationship between RMIT University and L’Oreal Vietnam, to assess students Consumer Psychology and Behaviour and Digital Marketing Communication through projects.

“These projects have included store analysis, digital marketing, and sustainable consumption, the latter of which has driven us to work with L’Oreal,” he said.

“We have also had 12 students go to L’Oreal Vietnam for internship positions.”

RMIT will host the launch of the Brandstorm competition at its Saigon South campus at the end of November.
